I formerly prepared (1995-2000) a PhD in the Département “Lipoproteines et Athérosclérose” (INSERM U325) headed by Pr Jean-Charles Fruchart in Institut Pasteur de Lille, France. During this period, I carried projects focused on the interaction of High Density Lipoproteins (HDL) with endothelial and steroidogenic-adrenal cells, then remnant lipoproteins with hepatocytes. Then, I turned my attention to nuclear receptors and atherosclerosis as I got recruited on an assistant professor position in Faculté des Sciences Pharmaceutiques et Biologiques de Lille (2001). I developed projects on the control of vascular inflammation by nuclear receptors. In 2008, I joined UMR 1011 team 1 “Nuclear receptors in metabolic syndrome” headed by Pr Bart Staels in European Genomic Institute for Diabetes (EGID, France) and first developed works on pancreatic beta cell dysfunction and orphan nuclear receptors. In recent years, my research is devoted to chronobiology in the intestine and nuclear receptors as major relays of metabolic signals and potential therapeutic target in metabolic syndrome related disorders. I develop my activities combining the use of enterocyte cell lines, mouse and human intestine and intestinal organoids. Based on experiences with lipid metabolism (absorption and trans-intestinal excretion), I am currently interested in the control of glucose absorption in enterocytes.
