Presentation

I am currently Associate Professor in English Phonetics at the University of Lille (France). I have a PhD in linguistics, applied linguistics and linguistic engineering with a research focus on phonetics and speech, and I worked in several academic and industrial institutions. I am becoming more and more interested in statistical methods for modelling linguistic phenomena, and my research adopts a data-focused approach spanning the following topics:

  • the progression of phonetic competence during L2 English acquisition;
  • the effects of orthography in the production, perception et phonological awareness of L2 English speakers;
  • software and tools for L2 pronunciation training and testing;
  • gemination in varieties of Italian;
  • emotional speech and text-to-speech synthesis;
  • rhythmic typology of languages.
