I am currently Associate Professor in English Phonetics at the University of Lille (France). I have a PhD in linguistics, applied linguistics and linguistic engineering with a research focus on phonetics and speech, and I worked in several academic and industrial institutions. I am becoming more and more interested in statistical methods for modelling linguistic phenomena, and my research adopts a data-focused approach spanning the following topics:
- the progression of phonetic competence during L2 English acquisition;
- the effects of orthography in the production, perception et phonological awareness of L2 English speakers;
- software and tools for L2 pronunciation training and testing;
- gemination in varieties of Italian;
- emotional speech and text-to-speech synthesis;
- rhythmic typology of languages.
