Catalysis and biomass valorisation

My research focuses on catalytic systems for converting biomass into molecules for chemicals and energy. It combines catalyst preparation and characterisation, understanding catalytic behaviour, and developing conversion routes for biorefineries.

Heterogeneous catalysis and biobased chemistry

I study the conversion of molecules derived from lignocellulosic and oleaginous biomass, including glycerol, biobased alcohols, furan derivatives and fatty acids. Oxidation, hydrogenation, dehydration and coupling reactions provide routes to a broader range of biobased chemicals.

Hybrid catalysis and reaction cascades

A central theme is the integration of chemical catalysts and biocatalysts. Combining their properties enables sequential transformations, improved selectivity and new synthetic pathways.

High-throughput screening and catalyst development

The REALCAT platform brings together catalysis, biocatalysis and high-throughput experimentation. I coordinated the project from 2011 to 2016 and served as its scientific lead from 2016 to 2022.

Biorefineries and collaborative projects

These activities have developed through academic–industrial projects including EuroBioRef (coordinator, 2010–2014), GUERBETOL and INGENCAT. I lead the French contribution to the European DEMO doctoral network (2023–2027), focusing on hybrid catalysis and metal–organic framework materials.
