Research Interests
My research interest are biological problems that can be solved with methods from statistical physics. In the following I briefly explain my main current research topics.
Soft Matter Electrostatics
Soft matter electrostatics concerns the calculation of electrostatic potentials of proteins and other 'soft' charged surfaces.
Chromatin regulation
My main interest here has been in the regulation of chromatin remodeling. A current project deals with base-excision repair (BER) in nucleosomal DNA (see below).
Stochastic processes/active matter
An offspring from the chromatin regulation project, I have started to work on models of stochastic processes, in particular in the context of active systems.
