I am an Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences HDR) in Computer Science at the Université de Lille, France. I mostly teach at the Applied Foreign Languages Department of the Faculté des Langues, Cultures et Sociétés. I am also the head of the MINT research team of the CRIStAL laboratory.
My research activity focuses on 3D User Interfaces in Extended Reality, and their use in a cultural context, most of the time for musical expression. I study in particular how 3DUIs can enrich the experience of artists and audience members by revealing existing or potential interactions in the physical space with virtual objects.
For example I investigate mixed-reality visual augmentations of digital musical instruments to study and improve the understanding and enjoyment by the audience.
Another direction is the integration of virtual controls overlapping physical digital instruments (e.g. on top of MIDI controls surfaces, gestural controllers or even actuated acoustic instruments), in order to study novel expressive opportunities and their appropriation by artists.
The last example is the design of augmented reality displays that allow for the exploration of virtual content placed around or inside physical objects, using optical combiners, depth cameras and projectors.
